Dear Star, I looked it up in the Red Book. I have 1997 ed at home. It sounds like it is an intrapartum thing, babies can be infected and show infection for up to 3 mo or so after delivery if mom not treated. I can't put my hands on Guidelines of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America. But in the front of the Red Book, under human milk transmission, they state that "human milk fed to infants from women other than the biologic mother should be treated according to those guidelines." So I guess my next question is - how old are these babies?
