The rash sounds like chronic urticaria or hives. Many times a cause is not
found. Some women develop post partum thyroiditis which can also manifest
as hives. A better treatment for the condition would be a long-acting non-
sedating antihistamine such as allegra or cetirizine (zyrtec). The hives
eventually go away. It might be several months before she will be itch
free. It'll be a good idea to have her thyroid function and thyroid
antibodies checked. Stinging nettle is a herbal alternative that she can
try along with the long acting antihistamines. Hope this helps.
