Reaching out to the learned folks in Lactnet: I received a call from a
pregnant (beginning of second trimester) woman who is a swimmer and has
found that her nipples and areola were both exceedingly red and "angry"
after swimming. She said after a long and painful shower (20 minutes) the
pain lessened and she hasn't gone back in the pool. I didn't have any
brainy tips for her aside from "don't swim".

I wondered if any of you had seen this before, what information you could
impart to her and whether or not this may have implications for
breastfeeding later on.

Thank you,
