My child has PVL. As I understand it the children are ALWAYS classified as CP. And for a very high number the severity of CP is high. I would not share this info with her. She should be given time to come to terms with this as it applies to her situation. A high number of these babies are failure to thrive with reflux, weak suck, sleepiness etc. My son was failure to thrive even though I breastfed him non stop. He had severe reflux and I dont believe his suck was good and while I could pump a good amount, he could not gain weight. She is right to be vigilant about making sure the baby eats well. Perhaps a LC could check babies suck and some oral therapy could be prescribed that might help him with sucking/latching? Here are some links that might give some information on PVL. www.familyvillage.wisc.edu/lib_pvl.html www.pediatrics.wisc.edu/childrenshosp/parents_of_preemies/pvl.html J{ *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
