As I recall, this question came up a number of years ago when
checking the cholesterol levels in infants and children was the rage
for a while.  At that time is was stated that it is normal for
infants ( I don't know how old that covered to) to have what
appeared to be high levels.  It was speculated that this helped
prepare them to deal with cholesterol in later years.
