<In terms of the mechanisms involved, Dr. Conrad said that animal studies have shown that soy interferes with the intestinal absorption of levothyroxine, resulting in fecal loss of the drug.> I was given specific directions to take my Synthroid on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before food, in order not to interfere with the absorption. (I am just presuming this might apply to Thyroxin given an infant.) So unless a way were available to give the infant dose in water, I wonder how even breast milk might effect the absorption?? Has anyone had to give Thyroxin to their infant? Jean ************ K.
