I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having difficulty visualizing the UNDER the tongue placement of the tube. Susan, I'm still struggling with... "---- or --- if you think about the baby's lips Medella instructions: The tube would be parallel to the lips going into the corner of the mouth. My former supervisor's instructions, the tube would be perpendicular to the lips, going under the tongue." My real problem is how to get the tube UNDER the baby's tongue that I'm having trouble visualizing. I'm thinking you really mean, from the baby's prespective that the tube is under the breast so that the tube falls OVER his tongue i.e. between his tongue and the breast, not in the corner of his mouth. Help me understand. In the past I've given directions to mom's about placement of the tube as similar to Jan Barger's post, over breast or under breast depending on which mom feels works best.
