Okay now that the subject got your attention (LOL) on to the matter. I've been reading about this "seven minute" time limit. Well after nursing 5 babies I have to say that for some..it works out that way..for others not. Not that I'm saying anything new to anyone. In my person study of unilaterally nursing 5 kids, I have to say that nursing the twins is very interesting. I can have both fed and burped and asleep (sometimes) in under 20 minutes. this has me thinking about the old supply and demand subject as well as fore milk and hind milk. It seems the more demand..the higher the fat content. I'm sure express 40% cream... if ya ask me. You would think that nursing two babies unilaterally would take most of my day. It doesn't. I believe my milk comes out so rich from start to finish that the girls only need to be on the boob for a short period of time. Why this is so..I can't explain. Only that my boob has compensated so perfectly that it gives me time to sit and do puzzles and get my laundry folded. The girls never squak and they truly are sleeping through the night at 4 months. They have never received a single supplement and one of them sucks her thumb (which is really great cause at night Nicky will nudge me in her sleep for a snack, and I will notice Amy sucking her thumb, after 4 minutes or so of nursing Nicky she falls back to sleep, I move over to Amy's side of the bed and pull out her thumb and nurse her till she pops off..again about 4 minutes later and we all go back to sleep). I know this post is more about sharing this incredible expereince, but as a peer support person for breastfeeding women, this experience is priceless! I have pumped my breast and found that the milk does not seperate very well, the fat almost seems homogenized. I truly would love to have the fat percentage tested. Anyways...my twin girls are over 12 pounds (birth weights 6-7 and 6-12)now and lovely. One is watching us eat very earnestly and sucks her fist as she watches us eat. well thanks for reading, now back to lurking.
