A mom who has had great difficult getting pregnant with her first child, went through infertility treatments, finally carried a baby to term, is now still bfeeding that child at age three. She has desperately wanted a second child and has been through extensive infertility treatments this time as well. She gets pregnant, but then miscarries, as has just happened for the third time since her first child was born. She is resistant to weaning as she feels she has a very close relationship with her child and fears she may never have another one, so why wean abruptly, ending this nursing relationship if it may be her only. She did take supplemental progesterone through this last seven week pregnancy. I know that most things I have read over the years do not link breastfeeding with miscarriage, but in this case, do any of you feel that it might be? No gynecological problems have been found in this woman and it all seems to remain a mystery. Clearly, she struggled before she had this child and was not breastfeeding then... Any thoughts?
