Debbie, I have seen a huge increase in our area, KC, of mothers that are breastmilk feeding AKA pumping and bottlefeeding. I lead LLL meetings but also present an expectant parents seminar at a local baby store every other month. I do not give info on pumps unless asked. The rep from the store always sets up a table with all of the pumps that they sell. I am surprised that most of these mothers think that they need a pump. Even the ones that are planning to stay home want to know what type of pump they *need*. I am grateful that the store rep continues to invite me back even though I stress that you do not need a pump and I even pull products off of their shelves to show mothers what they do not need. (Like Advent's nipple protectors, horrible name) I actually had a call from a mother two years ago that was 7 months preg with her second and wanted pump info. I assumed that she was going back to work until she told me that she was never going to directly bf this baby because the first had been too attached to her. She blamed the fact that her first baby loved her dearly on breastfeeding. Maybe she was right! I enjoy that my babies love me! Warmly, Tracy DeMaddalena *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
