darrilyn, that's exactly what i thought of - relactating for the 4 mo old. but one never knows whether to bring it up. mostly i do. this week i had my 14 yo in to the pediatrician's office due to an illness. there were several babies there and 2 mothers were talking about their babies constant ear infections, tubes in ears, etc. one baby was said to be 6 mos old. i wanted to ask whether the babies were doing any bf, and if not, suggest the mothers relactate, but the opportunity didn't present itself for me to ask. other than just blurting it out, which i almost did. most of these scenarios play out with the mother looking at you like you are a total nut, i guess because the pediatrician never dreams to mention it, and i wonder why not?
