For a twin gestation, the risk of still birth increases after 38 weeks, that is the ratioanal for induction prior to the due date. This lady got an extra 1.5 weeks! WE all know that all babies are supposed to get 40 weeks of "cooking" so they will behave like normal newborns and nurse like they are suppose to. Unfortunantly, some situations to not allow that. I agree with a previous poster that 36 or even 37 weeks is too early...but given what I know, based on studies I have read (as well as a few SAD clinical situations I have seen).....when my daughter was PG with her twins and asking me if it was necessary to agree to delivery at 38 weeks like the doctor wanted..I said, "YES"!!!! Turned out the babies had other plans, the water broke at 33 weeks :) Lori Peters RN IBCLC *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
