I am curious if you've heard this and if there are any research studies that have been done to prove this....... The breastfeeding (at the breast) relationship has a feedback system whereby the baby's saliva conveys germs that the baby has been exposed to to the mom and therefore the mom makes the antibodies/immunities and they are ready for the baby at the next feeding or so. I have never heard that antibodies are made that way and am just wondering if you have any references that cite research on this subject. I understand that antibodies can be made by mom if she is exposed to something and passes it on to baby that way but have never heard of a 'feedback' system involving baby's mouth and mom's breast specifically. Thanks for any information you can give me:) Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
