Hello!

My hospital is initiating a new protocol to give sugar water during
circumcisions to control pain. I clearly remember reading and learning
that colostrum has molecules that bind to microbes in the GI tract that
intern prevents harmful bacteria from penetrating the epithelium. I'm
concerned that the routine use of sugar water could affect this process.

Does anyone have a good resource I could use to present to management?
Thanks so much,
Becky Le RN, IBCLC
