Even the wild game they managed to kill was grass-fed and very lean. Obesity was unknown. But in the last 200 years, calorie consumption has increased enormously, as have average body weights. Breast cancer is more common in obese women than in slender women, perhaps because fatty tissues stimulate estrogen production and alter breast tissue development." Elsewhere in the book, the author mentions that estrogen is stored in the fat, again creating more longterm exposure.
