I am coming in late on this discussion, and may have missed someone saying this already, but I am having tremendous success already (only been using it a couple of weeks) with Rebecca Glover's "follow me mum" technique for latch. i think this technique (discussed on lactnet fairly recently i think) helps a lot with the situation you are describing, as you are essentially "unrolling" the breast onto the tongue, underside first, so there is really no way that i can see for baby to "flick" the end of the nipple or cause nipple trauma with the tongue. And moms seem to learn the technique very quickly and easily. also, i have found cranial sacral therapy to work well for tight tongues, high palates, and general oral mobility issues, which this seems to fit into. best of luck!
