I had a client with similar experience a few years ago. I did post and it may still be on Archives (maybe you can look it up through my name.) This mother was nursing her second child and had feelings of violence, panic and "wanted to throw the baby and run from the house screaming" during her early MERs. This happened with the first child, and subsided on it's own in a few weeks, but occured with a vengence with the second. As soon as the initial MER seemed to be over with each nursing session, the symptoms subsided, but she was shaken and frightened by these unwanted feelings. The doctor who she originally went to did not take her symptoms seriously. She then saw someone who specialized in Post Partum depression and although she vigourously denied she had PPD, she did have many of the symptoms (she had more of the anxious symptoms and had expected more morose symptoms, I guess.)The doc placed her on an SSRI antidepressant and even befor the first three weeks were up she saw a decrease in MER related symptoms. She then opted to stop the SSRI and has not been, admittedly, bothered by symptoms after stopping the meds. I do not know if the SSRI helped, or if the symptoms just got better with time. The consensus seemed to be (on Lactnet) that mothers like this may have temporary, unusual reactions to the hormones which are abundant in the Post Partum MER. As time goes by, or with some meds, these seem to get either less pronounced or are helped by the medication. (This mother also said she had panic feelings during labor.) Is your client also experiencing any PPD symptoms, especialy those in the anxious rather than depressive spheres? Perhaps there may be a link. I am not sure.
