jeanne to be honest, it is a difficult job mainly due to the brick walls and barriers we are up against. otherwise it would be a lovely job. i have become a realist as opposed to an idealist in order to keep my sanity. i still strive and struggle to be an effective change agent but i try not to get too discouraged. you may do better in certain areas of the country or if you have a baby friendly facility nearby. or working for a lovely peds or ob or family practice doc (my dream) who is baby frienldy. if ibclc is soemthing you really want to do, go for it. we need all the help we can get out here in the trenches. had a bf class today and one student says with astonishment that she has learned so much and is so enthusiastic, she can't wait to get home and call her friends who are also expecting but saying that after 2 wks of bf there are no benefits, it is the same as giving formula or cows milk so why bother? we have a long way to go, baby. _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8.
