I'm supporting a mum who is inducing lactation for her adopted toddler daughter. She's pumping and has seen her cycles change. Her account is below. My thoughts are that pehaps the shortening in cycle is due to a shortening of the luteal phase as happens as fertility is returning when breastfeeding. Has anyone seen similar changes in women relactating/inducing lactation or conversely in women who are returning to fertility after breastfeeding (I am thinking that her hormonal profile could be similar to a woman who is weaning). She's pumping several times a day, is seeing drops of milk but not much more and taking Domperidone. I also think that she might benefit from seeing a LC face to face. Needs help working out how to hand express for instance. Is there anyone here who can suggest someone in Southern Sydney, Australia? Karleen Gribble Australia "my main worry at the moment is the effect it might be having on my periods - i don't know whether this is connected but my period came at 19 days which should have really been ovulation time and now i am spotting a little even though the period is well and truly finished - i can only remember one other time in my life that a period has come this early - usually i have a period between 28 and 40 days - i would have thought lactation, albeit just the beginning stages, should have contributed towards ceasing periods for a while - damn - ever heard of this side effect?" *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
