We are a Level III NICU, trying to find reasonable ground between
recommendations for home storage and utilization of breast milk for term
newborns, and the national milk bank recommendations.

I would appreciate information from the community who work with guidelines
in NICU's. Some of the questions we are looking at include: Do you use
fresh breast milk for under 1500 gms or do you always freeze due to CMV
risk? What is your cutoff for receipt of fresh brestmilk - is it weight or
gestaation? How long do you allow fresh breast milk to sit at the bedside
and still be used? What are your refridgerator and freezer durations and
temperatures? Does your unit utilize the national milk bank guidelines or
do they have other criteria supported by the literature?

Any information you can provide will be very much appreciated.

Thanks
