Im curious about this. Our neonatologists are really pushing to get breast milk for all of our prems especially if they're under 30 weeks. The only babies we have had died of NEC have been the ones the mothers chose to give formula to. Could you treat the milk to kill the CMV? This would stilll give the infant the benefit of human milk with some loss due to the heat treatment. This would be more protective than omitting human milk altogether.
