>I was wondering if hospitals couldn't give out slings/soft carriers in lieu >of diaper bags? >Has anyone had any success with non-diaper bag gifts and if so do >manufacturers offer bulk/discount rate? Would any manufacturers be willing >to do so if they knew it was to support the WHO Code (i.e. no ABM >distribution) ? That's a great idea, but I suspect that most hospitals will take free gift bags over discounted ones, and I doubt sling companies are willing to donate them, there's not really anything in it for them. Why do we feel that we need to send parents home with a gift pack? Do people in hospital for other reasons go home with gift packs? The marketing ploys in this country (and elsewhere I imagine) drive me crazy. If companies are not expected to have any ethics beyond doing what it takes to make money, one would think that hospitals have some obligation to think about the ethical issues involved here, and there are many of them. Just needed to vent on this one for a minute, thanks for indulging me.
