Again, I am looking to my esteemed colleagues for help in dealing with frustrations in working with those who have power over us, but JDGI (just don't get it). How do you deal with people who will only see one side of anything. Case in point: In a satisfaction survey, the comment was made "The LCs were pushy." In discussing what might have been meant by that, the supervisor insisted that the only possible meaning was that the LCs were trying to push mom into breastfeeding in a way she didn't want to. I tried to say that in addition to that interpretation, it could have been that we were "pushing" her to make time for us to talk between her phone calls and visitors; she could have meant that she didn't like us using hands-on to help her achieve an effective lacth when trying to describe to her what we meant wasn't working. She wouldn't even acknowledge that there could be other interpretations. "No, this ( and only this) is what "pushy" means." In the same way that "feeling guilty" can ONLY mean that someone didn't approach her correctly and caused the guilt! ARRRGGGHHH Thanks for the opportunity to vent. 15 months, 12 days until I'm Medicare eligible!
