Hi all, I have a doula client who is 38 weeks pregnant, and sick with a bad cold that she thinks is turning into a fever as well. She is wondering if the hospital will separate her from the baby if the baby is born when she is running a fever and has a bad cold (This is a real possibility since she lost her mucus plug a couple of weeks ago already). I told her I thought it was better for her to be with her baby, so she could nurse and provide antibodies to the illness but not to breathe directly into the baby's face, and that she's already providing antibodies to the baby in utero now so not to worry too much. Any thoughts on how she can handle this if she has a fight on her hands with the nurses and doctors who may want to separate mom from baby?
