How do other non profit hospitals handle > this? > Lori, please go to someone in administration that knows something about making money for hospitals. ALL hospitals, profit or non-profit are expected to SHOW a profit. If they don't make money, they can't do anything the next year and the next. Believe me, my husband works for a non-profit hospital and by gum, they BETTER show a profit at the end of the year! Of COURSE a non-profit hospital can have a rental station. It will help pay for your services as a lactation consultant and keep the program afloat. Whoever you talked to in administration doesn't know squat about this. It is a SERVICE to the public. (The hospital can have an outpatient pharmacy too.)
