Hi. I saw a mom today who has just weaned her infant and complains that her nipple on one breast is now inverted. She states it was flat prior to nursing, and at observation it is now totally inverted.

Could this be from breast involution post-weaning? I have had moms whose breasts involuted and became quite a bit smaller after breastfeeding, but have never seen a nipple become inverted like this.

Mom would like to know if there is anything she can do/use to make her nipple "normal" looking again. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
