Newborn when used in "medical conversation" is a term that refers to the
first month of life. Infant refers to the first 12 months of life.
Statistics on infant mortality refer to the first year. Baby is not a
"medical term" as the others may be. Baby is in the eye of the beholder. In
general conversation the terms newborn and infant also have vaguer meanings
and exact time is according to context.
