Here is the link to the article that Naomi mentioned.

If the client has such an aversion to bf'ding - please let her know that it
is possible to exclusively pump milk for her child as well. It sounds as
though she understands the value of her milk for the child. Perhaps if she
knew exclusively pumping was an option, she would consider it for a while.
We just had a mom join pumpmoms who is pumping for her child because she
does not want to breast feed (aversion). There are several moms to be who
join prior to giving birth as well so they can learn about pumping in
anticipation of a baby with a cleft pallette or returning to work.

Even if she were to only pump and feed her milk for the first few months,
that would be better than nothing at all.

Subject: need study to convince mom of benefits of some bfing

I am the doula for a pregnant woman who didn't breastfeed her first because
she thinks it's gross, even though she knows it's the best thing. Told me
she feels like a bad mom for not having done it, but just couldn't bring
herself to. I gently talked her into trying just one feeding (she sounded
open to one feeding) to see how it goes, told her she can always stop. I
would love to be able to back myself up with a study that shows the short
AND long-term benefits of even just a few feedings or a week of nursing
versus formula feeding. Does anyone know of one off the top of her head?
