Dear Wise Ones, I have two questions to ask for help with. 1. Does anyone know of any medical peer review journal articles on clippling frenulums and the effect on breastfeeding. The head of our lactation department is being questioned by the hospital pediatrician because another Dr. complained to him about our frequent referral (2) of is patients to have frenulum clipped when he could see nothing wrong. The info we have is in lactation articles and those are not deemed good enough. Any Doctors out there, what would convince you that clippling frenulums uas ok, and that it affected breastfeeding? 2. Our NICU is looking at new pacifiers for premies and want one that moms can buy on the open market - the ones we use now are from formula companies and not available when moms go home. They are considering "Gerber New Traditions". Has anyone had expereince with this pacifier? It is supposed to pop out as baby sucks on it. I am fully aware of the dangers of pacifiers, so lets not go there. The reality is that the NICU is going to use them, and they want ones mom can buy, not ones the formula reps hand out. Any feed back on tis pacifier would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.
