I have been seeing a primp with persistent plugged ducts and nipple pores. The baby is 9 months old. She had one bout of mastitis and manages to treat the many plugged ducts with the usual treatment. The plugged pores usually appear before the plugged ducts. She has used a sterile pin on a plugged pore once when an area of the breast was red. She also has had ultrasound twice as recommended by Dr. Newman. She is taking lethicin 4 times a day. We're currently looking into treating her for yeast as she is experiencing shooting pain.
Our question is that she would like to wean over the next 3 months and is afraid to cut back on feeds (he feeds 6 times a day). The baby usually nurses on one side per feeding, takes solids well. Any ideas??
