"What really blew me away was that the amount of breastmilk ingested by a baby in a 24 hour period stays pretty much the same for the first 6 months" Isn't it fun to see what others "hear" at conferences? It reminds me of how moms "hear" some things and don't hear others...It also shows the value of Lactnet or meetings AFTER conferences where people can share what THEY heard! ...I say this not because I disagree with what Pat said - but that what impressed ME the most was the u/s of the areola and the milk and the ducts - why are we upset that plastic surgeons don't know about breasts - when we are yearly learning new things about the anatomy and the flow of milk? I was speaking to a class of medical students on the Friday after the "Breastfest" - and it was hard to look at the lovely diagram of the breast that I had been so confidently using for the last 15 years! ...just when we think we know something ... we learn we don't have it "right" yet! It's great for me - keeping my brain exercised! I hope to learn more and be able to process more at the ILCA conference, because this information requires my "hearing" it a few times in order to process it enough to be able to teach it!
