One thing I have not seen mentioned is this discussion is that if a mom is going to use a pump previously used by someone else (whether or not we endorse such use) she should at least get her own personal parts (flanges, containers, tubing, etc.). There is not a personal kit available at least for the PnS since the company is discouraging such multiple users. Therefore, moms usually get a kit for the rental pump which can be used on the PnS. The question (above the already mentioned concerns) is whether the difference in tubing diameter and length makes any significant difference in the degree of suction obtained. When I mention to moms that it is not recommended that a pump be used by more than one person, most question whether it's just a way for the manufacturer to sell more pumps. I tell them I con't endorse such use, but I know many will do so anyway, especially if it comes form a sister of theirs. If they are going to in spite of my voiced concerns, I want to be sure they reduce any risk by at least getting their own personal "kit".
