Many used pumps cannot be adequately sterilized internally, and if there is
contamination, it could be transitted, since there are several diseases
potentially communicable via breastmilk. Also, if there is breastmilk in
parts of the pump that cannot be reached for cleansing, there can be other
biologic material as well.

Would you buy a used toothbrush, or diaphragm?

Anyone suggesting buying a used pump from a stranger, or a pump whose
history is uncertain, could conceivably be held responsible for the outcome.
When you rent this kind of equipment, in re-usable models, from a reputable
agent, part of what you pay for is the guarantee of cleanliness.
