From personal experience and observation I have noticed that the Lactina is usually turned up to max (gradually) and used there comfortably for most women, but with the Classic I have never seen the suction control even up half way (usually ¼). I perceive the Lactina’s range to therefore be more limited, and I have also wondered about their effectiveness in a hospital setting. Speaking of pumps I had the opportunity to have a look at the New Medela Symphony-not working alas, although I was dying to stick it under my shirt for a go in the showroom! So I had to settle for a play around with the casing. What did strike me as odd was how flimsy it seemed, for a very expensive pump designed for intensive hospital use. the buttons were rubber and even on the new demo model were already very stained and dirty, and the hinges and doors felt like they would break off after a few weeks. But the technology sounds interesting. Plus I thought it looked like a rice cooker! Ha.
