Has anyone tried the technique described by Dee Kassing, IBCLC, in the Feb. 2002 Jnl. of Human Lactation, p. 56? At our hospital, we are excited about it's possibilities. There are so many controversies around syringe feeding and cup feeding, but another big issue for us is that the nurses can't/aren't allowed to use those techniques. Also, Kassing has a valid point when she states that mothers may feel overwhelmed when faced with unfamiliar alternative feeding equipment and are more likely to be compliant when they can use a familiar item. I am especially interested to know if it has been applied in a hospital setting and how the policy and procedure was created. -Barbara Crotty, Houston, TX *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
