Jean, You are so right when you say that NICUs develop their own enclaves. I work as an LC in one in the UK. Although it is streets ahead of the one that Teresa experienced, the attitude of the staff is the same. When mothers want individualised care for their babies, and complain if they don't get it, they are seen as 'difficult'. I am told that certain events did not happen, even though I and the mother have witnessed these events. The staff in this unit think they are fantastic, the best NICU in the world, and will not consider that there is room for improvement. I wish I had some ideas how to improve the situation, which is probably pretty common.
