Dear Colleagues,

I need information on a mother bf'ing her 9 mo baby if the mother has E.
coli. To clarify, her 2.5 yo son has it, mother is at the hospital caring
for him, and is pumping breastmilk to maintain supply, but hasn't actually
fed the baby this milk (baby is in the care of a friend). The mom may have
E. coli now also. Can she give her baby the pumped milk or not? She is not
receiving any Abx yet.

I would especially like permission to print out whatever you might send me
so I can share it with my friend, and possibly her doctor. (Dont' think I
can do that with the archives.)

I have read many archives related to E. coli and the protection offered by
breastmilk, but can't find anything stating whether it can be passed from
mother to baby via the breastmilk.

Please email me privately if you can. mailto:[log in to unmask]
