Sorry, I didn't get to finish my post about Message to Mothers - 1952 Anyway various rules for breastfeeding. The two that really made me laugh was that the baby was NOT to be unwrapped for any reason as this might cause infection and the clincher - vaseline should be applied to the nipple along with a wax paper dressing. If the wax paper fell off for any reason, mom was to promplty call the nurse, so that another could be reapplied. (Sounds a little like the modern day gel-pack don't you think!) I wonder what we will be doing 50 years from now that will make us look back on 2001 and say - what were they thinking?
