Cheryl Parrott asks for help in a problem stemming from her 'much blurred
role as an LC and RN in a peds office'.
It occurs to me that if you are practicing as a lactation consultant, it
should not have any bearing on your RN credential. The problem may arise if
you lack accreditation as a lactation consultant, because it may be
difficult to convince a review board that you were not practicing nursing no
matter what you were doing. After all, if that is the credential which
justifies your practice, you may be expected to work within whatever
constraints that poses.
On the other hand, I am hard put to imagine what LC actions could be not in
keeping with the authorization one has as an RN.
