A few leads for you Liz, > 1. Who was it that talked about 'the second nine months of life' - that a > child's head would be too large to get out of the womb if they stayed in > for as long as nature might intent? Nils Bergman (the Kangaroo Mother Care man) says this. He is thinking also looking at investigating just what someone else suggested- whether babies placed on the chest of strangers (in the case of babies being adopted- the adoptive parents are certainly strangers to the baby)- respond in the same way as babies with their mothers. > 2. Any psychologists out there that can address for me how ANY mental > health professional could think that a child is unattached to the mother at > birth? There is a lot written about this in relation to adoption. The whole primal wound thing etc. I don't think there is much that you could describe as standard research type information but there is certainly evidence that removal of a child from it's mother is a drastic event.
