I heard a physiotherapist in Australia speak about this, suggesting that exclusively BF babies with infrequent or constipated stools could be suffering from poor abdominal tone. Some ideas were ensuring the baby isn't wrapped up all day, so has time and space to play and wriggle on the floor, on their back and front, pull to sit excersizes, placing them prone over an inflatable beach ball and rolling them gently over so their toes touch the ground, then lift off, then return. Also lots of carrying upright where they are turned away from your body, your arm crosses over their chest like a seatbelt and goes under their nappy. This improves their tone by encouraging anti gravity movements. She believed all babies, even newborns should be carried in this way often to strengthen their muscles and aid development and flexibility. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meg Kingsley Lay Breastfeeding Supporter, Dubai UAE E-Mail : [log in to unmask] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
