Hello, I am a new user eager to learn much from the folks working with new breastfeeding moms. I am working as a Clinical Specialist (also a women's health nurse practitioner) for lactation education in a level 2 hospital. I completed the 5 day course in Calif put on by Evergreen and learned that there is much to learn regarding breastfeeding. I hope to sit for the IBCLC next year. Meanwhile, I am constantly challenged with the promotion of breastfeeding in a hospital that currently only gets about 40-50% breastfeeders. I have come to you for assistance. After searching the archives for information about lactation and the adopting mother, I was left with some questions. There is a woman planning to adopt a baby in December who wishes to breastfeed (the baby will be born at our hospital and she wishes to room in with the baby). I looked in the Riordan book: it recommended the Depo, Reglan + Thorazine regimen along with pumping. Her GYN nixed the Thorazine due to possible side effects. Now, after reading the archives I have learned that Reglan can cause significant problems with depression and anxiety. Is there any wisdom you could offer that would provide other options? Thanks in advance for any responses: Nancy Hoehn, MSN, RNC, WHNP Clinical Specialist [log in to unmask] *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
