Someone wrote (about the mother bear in Iran nursing the toddler): What struck me about the story is the fact that the 16 month apparantly knew how to nurse. To me this indicates it was still a nursing toddler-and the article did not indicate that this was in any way "odd". Is this some subtle progress? I strongly suspect that in Iran, children at typically nursed for up to 2 years, so it wouldn't be considered "progress" to have a nursing 16 month old -- just nursing as usual. Inquiring minds want to know why the 16 month old was left home alone while the parents were working in the fields, how the toddler was removed from the bear's den (did they kill the bear?) and how they KNOW that the toddler nursed?
