I had a fairly small mare when I was a teenager and bred her to a stallion who was quite a bit taller. Because she wasn't rebred after her foal was born, she continued nursing her daughter for well over a year. By a year, the daughter was already taller than the mother, and had to kneel down in order to nurse. It looked very funny. I think the reason she weaned (at around 16 months, I think) was because it became increasingly awkward for her to do it! Teresa Pitman (who is glad that all her children weaned before they became taller than her) *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
