This is from my reply to a dear friend who posted privately. I want to share it on LN, because, in my case, it is breastfeeding related. <Thanks for your thoughts. I too << don't know what to think or feel at this point in time. I continue to do my work, as an act of hope. >> I am greatly concerned with the future of my grandchildren, especially the eldest 3 who are 23, 20 and 19. On Sept.11, I had a certain sense of 'deja vu', but of course, on a much larger scale, now that our continental soil has been . . . 'raped' . . . is definitely not too strong a word. On Dec. 7, 1941, as an 11 year old Civil Service dependent, I lived at Hickam Housing Project, 500 feet from the fence of Hickam Field, which was adjacent to Pearl Harbor. As a child, with planes flying mere yards over the top of my house on the way to their target, I was saved from fear by the love and care of my family and community during the disaster. I know not what else to do now, except to go about my daily responsibilities in a spirit of obedience to my ideals, to keep my trust in God, the collective wisdom of our leaders, the good will of our society, and the love of family and friends. > In that spirit, I continue to work to strengthen the bonds with my grandchildren, volunteer for WIC, and post to LN to do something I consider infinitely positive for the coming generations of children.
