<I respectfully disagree here. I think for these kind of developments choosing words carafully and consciensly is very important. This will distuingish between all the possibilities and be a help in the understanding that feeding human milk from just someone is not the same as breastfeeding, nor is feeding ones own milk in some other way. . . . . I really think naming things is important. What's in a name? I think the name makes it to what it is.> Hurrah, Gonneke. My thoughts exactly. (Except perhaps for the illustrative example, which to some, might come across too closely as "giving a grade" to the quality of one's mothering.) I think it's good for us to try to articulate this terminology on this list, for I predict the trend will continue its slow but steady growth. We need to acknowledge this, even if we may not have chosen this route personally. If it permits some women to "disembody" themselves from their babies, that is their choice, and perhaps their problem. I don't think it can do that any more than formula availability may already have done. Alternatively, I wonder if it may have the potential to "empower" other women whose babies (and their own self-images) will be better off than they might have been otherwise. Jean ************ K.
