Hi All, Got a call from a GMA and former LLLL who has daughter out of state. The daughter is nursing a 14 mos. old about 4 x per day and the toddler takes solids well. GMA says she was told to wean because she is being worked up for rhuematoid arthritis and needs to take 800 mg of Motrin q6hr, and some unnamed steroid. Furthermore the rhematologist told her that the increased progesterone levels with nursing may cause pain like arthritis becaue of progesterone deposits that "go into the joints" . Now, I surely did not hear this first hand and I suppose it could be a "perception of what was heard issue" however????? If any of you have any info on this topic or have ever heard of this let me know. I can't get to the library till Monday and would like to have some answers for her daughter who is coming to visit early next week. I hope this is not another sacrificial offering, shall we say! TIA, LuAnn Smith RN, IBCLC On a beautiful late summer day in York, PA where the oldest state fair in America starts tomorrow! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
