Someone needs to take these 'friendly helpers' aside and suggest that they truly support this mother in breastfeeding her baby. That means they can: do laundry, scrub toilets, make beds, vacuum, do grocery shopping, and most of all, they can COOK COOK COOK and freeze one meal's worth of food in a container that can go from freezer to fridge to stove to table to sink. They should round up others to help her with the housework and shopping for the first six months at least. Perhaps members of her church, or a local service organization. Even high school kids from the local school might be recruited to help her. With the understanding that the only time someone else cares for the baby is while mom is taking a shower or a nap, and that if the baby needs to nurse, it gets a fresh diaper and goes back to mom.
