I work in our pediatric dept. as a nurse practitioner and CLC. I see all the newborns post hospital and for the 2 week follow-up. We have a Medical Social Worker in our dept. and she and I want to put together a program for our moms with PPD. The current practice is seeing an MD in Psych. for meds and then someone else for counseling, etc. They are always booked out for at least 6 weeks in advance. Most of my moms have told me they feel "blown off" by the staff as in "its just PPD - get over it!" Not wanting to reinvent the wheel -- any suggestions that you can make for us as we try to introduce a new concept that would include screening, counseling, meds if needed and maybe some womens' groups here in our dept. TIA, Linda
