Dear Jan
Thank you for your feedback/opinion. Firstly:- I am associated with breastfedplanet. This is a "yellow page" directory for breastfeeding women worldwide to access rental stations/breastfeeding services etc. It is intended to fill a need to assist mothers...sorry you don't see the value in it.....seemed like a good idea...Not sponsored by any company. This has nothing to do with the WHO code. The reason I asked about the Code violators is because I am working in a hospital that we are in the process of making "Baby Friendly". I am researching the code and guidelines etc. ILCA is a governing body that sets the standard for lactation consultants and other professionals in the field. That is a totally different issue all together- apples and oranges. I feel attacked by you for simply addressing the issue- which is surprising- aren't we all on the same side???
I personally feel that the code has not addressed the fact that in some cultures women do prolong breastfeeding after returning to work- by pumping and bottlefeeding their expressed milk. Maybe as a body of professionals we can all work together in making a change in the Code and then maybe the marketing of these products will be monitored accordingly. Just my humble opinion. Please email me privately next time.
